“Art has always been the raft onto which we climb to save our sanity. I don’t see a different purpose for it now.” ~ Dorothea Tanning
I have never really been able to meditate.
Even though in the 70's I did a course on Transcendental Meditation. A man in my class informed us he was able to levitate after a couple of weeks. Meanwhile I was probably trying NOT to think what I needed to purchase at the shop on the way home from the class.
For me meditation was always riding my beautiful horse through the jarrah forest and never meeting another soul out there.
And the thousands of books I have lost myself in over over the years.
When I started painting 3 years ago, I realised that this was another way to leave any worries behind and for a while, enter another mind space.
In these trying days I have found that being in my gorgeous, light filled studio is the best antidote to worry!
Yes, I have been painting like a mad woman.
The galleries will probably be closed for a while but when they open I will be ready with some exciting new work.
Throughout art history we have been enthralled and inspired by the art and quotes by famous artists. Here are a couple more that sum up how I feel about it right now..
“Art washes away from the soul the dust of every day life.” ~ Pablo Picasso
“Art is a line around your thoughts.” ~ Gustav Klimt
