Eeek! Time flies and I have neglected my website for too long. My last blog was a LONG time ago.
Life does not get less busy. In fact the days seem to disappear in the blink of an eye. Not only have I been remiss about updating my website, but my art output has declined since taking part in the Mundaring Open Studios last October. I love being one of the artists in this well established event but it does involve a lot of work. Not just the painting, hanging, labelling and all the related admin. I have to be on social media more than I care for because, hey…if nobody knows I am exhibiting, nobody is going to come. The other huge task is getting the extensive garden looking it’s best. No mean task for us.
But we did it and it was fabulous. The weather was kind and our delightful visitors were complimentary. Lots of paintings left for new homes and our guests sat under the trees and ate cake. Perfect! As usual we had four wonderful helpers who each spent a day meeting and greeting , filling the urn and replenishing the refreshments.
Maddie, our helper on the first day had to direct the cars in and out of the property as we had a record number of visitors.
Straight after Open Studios I had a painting on display at the Darlington Art Festival. What an honour to be a finalist for the 5th year running.
After taking a break from art for a couple of weeks we were hit by the dreaded Covid. It arrived driving a steam roller, took aim and mowed us down.
Me: it will just be like a bad cold Covid: Haha, you reckon?
3 months down the track and with Long Covid (it really got me) I have been in the studio again but at a much slower pace. The fatigue is real and most annoying when you have paintings to paint, ponies to play with, ongoing renovations to complete and grandkids to spend time with.
At last, ideas for paintings are swimming round my brain again and I have found some fun references.
I hope to take part in the Open Studios again this year. We recently had our first Wwoofer staying with us in Mahogany Creek. (another new life choice; google it)
Jan from Prague was super company and did some much needed work on the property. We plan to have someone stay for a couple of weeks before Open Studio which will hopefully take the pressure off.
So I have not planned any other exhibitions this year but you can follow my art on Facebook and Instagram if you would like a sneak peek at my work.
Below is my painting “Cinnebar” which sold at the last Open Studio.
